Question: Do us Americans have the right to show off?
( Back )
Answer #1:
Hokay, so you are a US citizen and you believe various aspects of the US hmmmm culture have been exported. What does all that have to do with you, personally? By an accident of fate you were born in the US, admittedly. But what else? Have you done something anyone even in the US would care to emulate, admire, even respect?
If you're thinking you are justified in hitch-hiking on what Michael Jackson did, or the US military it doesn't make much sense unless you played a part in those pieces of US 'accomplishment'.
So what do you have to be proud of except that you managed to get born in the US instead of Bongo Bongoland?
Answer #2:

Go ahead... being a superpower isn't really a good thing to be honest. Look at 9/11.But then surely China can show off at how much they control America?
Answer #6:
Your arrogance proves the point. You give 4 examples of things the U.S. has done to justify your position that Americans have the right to show off.1. Our economy - the fact that our country is in one of the worst financial crises in the history of the planet, despite the fact that it is by far the richest, is an embarrassment, and a testament to the fact that our entire economy is a farce. This is the absolute last thing you should list as a "bragging right".
2. World Police - please cite ONE example of military action initiated by the U.S. in which we didn't have a financial motive. I genuinely challenge you to put some of that swagger into action and find one. We protect countries who are in a strategic position to benefit us based upon their geographic location, natural resources, or political clout within the global community.
3. Entertainment - There are some talented people in the entertainment industry. However, 99.9% of the entertainment we export to the rest of the world is completely produced (from conception to marketing) for the sole purpose of generating money.
4. Junk food - Are you serious with this one? Thanks to our junk food, we have the highest rate of obesity in all of the world, and we have the medical problems to show for it. (heart attacks, diabetes, psychological problems related to depression). Do some research and you will see that when developing countries allow our fast food companies to sell their food, the rates of obesity and health problems increase dramatically.
I would be willing to bet that within your lifetime, the U.S. will not be in the "privileged position" you are so proud of.
Answer #7:
You are proud that the financial crises started in the US and spread to the rest of the world, proving how big and influential your country is?Shame on you.
Answer #8:
you must be joking.Answer #9:
Even if we did, I would be prouder if we were mature enough to know why we shouldn't. "Ugly American" came to mind as I read your post. Perhaps you should research this term.Answer #10:
Its time America stops trying to be the worlds police force and leave it to the UN Yes they also have their hands tied by American numerous veto's ( I think 62 of them just protecting Israel) They tried to Invade Korea trying to drive out the N. Koreans and look at the result. They invaded Vietnam and got their ar*e kicked. What a mess they made in Iraq and still paying for it and now they seem to be making the same mistake in Afghanistan. I dread to think how many American and its allies lives have been lost trying to make the world a better place. Lets give the UN the power it should have. They and they alone should be the worlds peace force at least the world decides who are the bad guys and not just the USAnswer #11:
Yes, you can show off as long as you do not violate the human right of others. Every individual equally got its human right.Answer #12:
Real strength and courage is quiet and unassuming. Nobody likes a bragger. Ever heard the saying: All mouth and no action?Answer #13:
You should be less arrogant. You know, the USA is not the most visited country in the world which means it doesn't really attract foreigners** Powered by Yahoo Answers
